Sarah A. Reed Legacy Society

the Sarah A. Reed Legacy Society

The Sarah A. Reed Legacy Society was established in 2015 to honor the founder of the Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center, which was started in 1871.

The Children’s Center is the oldest human services organization in Erie County. It was founded in 1871 by a group of women interested in helping orphaned and homeless children. Miss Sarah Reed was an original member of this group and served as its President for 45 years from 1889 until her death in 1934. Her contributions to the agency’s early development were so substantial that in 1935 the Center was renamed in her honor.

To become a Charter member in the society, simply notify us that you have included Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center in your will or made provisions to turn over an existing insurance policy to the organization or through a gift of property.

Just as Sarah A. Reed recognized the potential in all persons, those members of her Legacy Society recognize the potential of the future and assist in making the challenges and opportunities that are sure to unfold in fulfilling her vision. Your commitment today to the Sarah A. Reed Legacy Society will truly help provide for a brighter tomorrow
